Meet our Lactation Consultants
Sharon Birdseye, RN, Licensed IBCLC, RLC
Owner/Director of Clinical Operations
Sharon Birdseye is the true breastfeeding specialist in Atlanta. She has been helping families to breastfeed as a board certified lactation consultant for over 30 years. She is the foundation on which LCA was built and some might say the Lactation field in Atlanta, having been one of the first to set for her boards in the state of Georgia. She continued that tradition recently with being one of the first to obtain her license after licensure was introduced in the state.
Sharon is a founding member and past president of the Southeastern Lactation Consultants Association (SELCA), member of the International Lactation Consultants Association (ILCA), and the United States Lactation Consultant Association (USLCA).
She is a graduate of Georgia Baptist College of Nursing. In 2015 she was inducted into the Half Century Club of Mercer University by the Georgia Baptist College of nursing Alumni Association. In 2018 she was inducted into their Hall of Honor for her Excellence in Clinical Nursing Practice. She has worked as a registered nurse in cardiology, labor and delivery and OB education.
When Sharon is not in the office, or on the go helping as many mommas and babies as she can, you will find her spending time with her family. She is the proud mother of 3 (now grown) breastfed boys and 2 breastfed granddaughters. If she’s not spending her free time with her granddaughters, you may find her on the golf course working on her swing or possibly participating in Zumba or Tai Chi.
She has a great passion for sharing her knowledge of breastfeeding and has been a guest lecturer for Emory School of Nursing’s midwifery program, SELCA. La Leche league, and CHOA. Sharon has been featured on the news and has published several articles on breastfeeding for La Lache League International.

Patricia Bast, DO, IBCLC
Owner of Doctor Mommy Lactation, LLC
Doctor Patricia Bast graduated from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Northern California in 2013. She was a resident at Loma Linda Children’s Hospital in Southern California to become a pediatric physician. After having her first child in 2016, she quickly gained a love for breastfeeding, even continuing to breastfeed and tandem feed, through multiple miscarriages and two more successful pregnancies.
Through her journey to becoming a physician, she came to the realization that there is very little breastfeeding education provided for a doctor. Dr. Patricia wanted to learn more. In 2021 while expecting her third child she decided to take the next step and bridge the gap from avid breastfeeding supporter to becoming an IBCLC. Dr. Bast did her pathway internship with LCA, and shortly after passing
her board certifying exam began the process of starting her lactation business, Doctor Mommy Lactation LLC. Dr. Bast also manages a website aimed at helping answer parents’ questions about child growth and development, www.askdoctormommy.com.
She has an active life with her wonderful husband and 3 beautiful children, and when she is not working, she enjoys painting, dancing, and visiting beautiful
gardens with her family. She is excited to combine her medical expertise with the breastfeeding experience of LCA, providing exemplary and comprehensive care to the greater Atlanta area. Doctor Mommy Lactation, LLC. And Lactation Consultants of Atlanta, INC. are excited to partner together to bring more comprehensive lactation care to those in need.
